People of Spain

Spanish people are proud of their culture.  Their family live's are very important. Big families usually get together and they have lunch or supper till late.  Evenings are also a time for families to go for a walk, window shopping and meeting friends.

In Spain most people are Roman Catholic but there are also Protestants, Muslims and Jews.
Spain is divided into different regions and they each have their own traditions like folk costume and styles of cooking.  Some regions like Catalonia and the Basque region have their own flags and languages too.

Spanish children start school when they are two or three years old and stay until they are sixteen.
Then they start training for work or study longer so they can get ready for college and university.  Spanish children usually have two surnames from their mothers and their fathers name.

Greece

  • In language and language my group and I done a presentation about Greece. I found a lot of information about the celebrations in Greece.
These are some celebrations I found in Greece.

    Greek Independence day
The day they started the revolutionary war against the Turks in March 25th in 1821, the greek people have military parades all over the country.
  • Ohi Day
Meaning Day of no in honour to the negative answer of the Greek people when the Italians asked them to surrender in World War II.  Ohi Day is celebrated each year on October 28.
  • Athens Epidaurus Greek Festival

The Athens Epidaurus Festival is celebrated every summer from June to August and includes different performances, like modern theatre, acient drama, ballet and more. The events are in different theaters around Athens and the Ancient theatre of Epidaurus .

Saint Pius Feast Day

Today Saint Pius X School celebrated the feast of Saint Pius X the Patron Saint of our school.
We first started with a beautiful mass. I led the mass, I played the guitar for the school.  Then the school gathered in the school hall and we cut up a big cake and shared it with the school and sang a happy feast day song for our school.  After that we had an awesome talent show. All the classes performed an item they were practising for the jam bus.  I was one of the M. C's for the talent quest.
My class performed 2 items one with marimbas, drums, guitars, and the metal xylophone and the other we sang two songs.
This a photo of my class performing one of the songs Let it go
It was an awesome feast day celebration.

Cross Country Report Writing

Cross country is a sport event where you run a long distance race course.
Today St Pius X School was hosting this event. We first began the races with the 13 year olds, next the 12 year olds, 11 year olds, 10 year olds and a few of the 9 year olds. Later after they had sorted the places (winners) we begun the juniors’ races. The juniors races had started with the 5 year olds, going up in age. All the senior students were cheering their little brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews.

End of Term 2

My highlight for the last day of the term was playing Basketball with the class.
I really enjoyed playing with my team and with the rest of the class.

Cross Country

“On your marks get set GO!” off I went, I was jogging with Genevieve then down the hill I started picking up the paste. Today our school had cross country. Cross Country is a long distance running event, when our school hosts this event we do it according by age. I started going faster I went past the first teacher there is six boys in front of me, I'm nearly there then Mr Coakley yells out, “Come on Catherine you're doing well you're nearly there one more round”.  I get past Mr Coakley.

I'm nearly there I have one more round. Then I start running really fast.  I look back and there is no one there then I start jogging I'm at the top of the hill and I start walking down. When I get to the end of the road I start running and I finish off the cross country course.

I'm at the front of the school and I'm jogging up to the finish line. I come first place in the twelve year old girls.
